PowerPoint Add-in

The hermine.ai PowerPoint Add-in helps you create and edit presentations. The AI can create and duplicate slides, add text boxes and shapes, insert images, and edit existing content.

What the AI Sees

With each message, the AI automatically receives:

• Slide overview: The titles of all slides in the presentation
• Current slide in detail: All shapes with position, size, and formatting (font, colors, fills, borders)
• Neighboring slides: The shapes of the slide before and after, so new content matches the existing design
• Slide size and presentation name: The slide dimensions and the filename of your presentation

Note: The AI only sees the current slide and its direct neighbors in detail. It automatically reads the content of more distant slides when needed before making changes.

Typical Use Cases

Creating Presentations

The AI can create complete presentations, including text and images:

• "Create a 10-slide presentation about our quarterly results"
• "Build a pitch deck presentation for our startup"
• "Create a training presentation on the topic of data privacy"

Tip: When creating complete presentations, the AI also generates matching images and distributes visual elements across the slides, creating an appealing mix of text and graphics.

Editing Individual Slides

• "Add a new slide with the title 'Agenda'"
• "Duplicate this slide and adjust the title"
• "Change the title of the current slide to 'Summary'"
• "Create a text box with the three key results"

Inserting Images

The AI can download images from URLs or generate them itself and place them on slides:

• "Insert the image from this URL onto the current slide"
• "Generate a professional image about teamwork and insert it"

Searching Content

• "Search for 'revenue' in the entire presentation"
• "Read the content of slides 3 through 7"

How the AI Works in PowerPoint

1. Navigate to the desired slide and ask your question in the Type a message... field
2. For complete presentations, the AI first plans a task list and works slide by slide
3. Each change appears as its own labeled step below the answer
4. Click Apply N changes to execute the steps (in YOLO mode this happens automatically)
5. After execution, the step shows the status Applied in PowerPoint

Available Operations

Limitations

The PowerPoint JavaScript API has some limitations compared to Excel and Word:

• No animations: Slide transitions and animations cannot be set via AI
• No master slides: Access to the slide master is not available
• No charts: Charts cannot be created directly (alternative: shapes and text boxes)

Tips

• Select your slide: Navigate to the desired slide before requesting a change.
• Use images: Ask the AI to generate images for presentations. Visually appealing slides look more professional.
• Let the design carry over: The AI takes its cues from the existing shapes on neighboring slides and from the slide size. This keeps layout and style consistent across the presentation.
• Step by step: For complex presentations, the AI creates a task list and works slide by slide.
